Max Ate Peas!

Posted by J Hopkins on Mar 21, 2011 in General, Pictures

Max had his first vegetables last night and quite enjoyed the moderately warm peas. That increases his list of consumed items to 3 (excluding B-Juice/Formula): Rice, Oatmeal and Peas. He is rolling over at will now. Back to front, to the right and left. Front to back is still a bit more random. If he encounters an obstacle that prohibits his rolling over, his method is to keep wiggling until he finds an opening. 20lbs now and has outgrown his car carrier. Mom and Dad have new car seats installed and he seems to enjoy sitting up instead of reclined in the old carrier. A very happy boy, his day care has told us that he just laughs and flirts all day long.

Max’s 4 Month Check Up

Posted by J Hopkins on Mar 8, 2011 in General, Pictures

Max and his parents made it through his 4 month doctor appointment. The hardest part is always at the very end when the nurse sticks two needles in one thigh and one in the other. Max only cried a bit and was instantly focused on feeding from Mom.

Status: Max is healthy and happy (big) boy. He measured 28.25 inches long and weighed just over 19 lbs. His weight is in the 97th percentile and  height was above the top line on the chart (so we assume that means pretty darn tall)

He has been cleared to begin eating baby solids, starting with vegetables, as he has been doing well the past few weeks with small meals of rice cereal mixed with milk or formula. We aren’t sure when we will begin feeding him carrots, sqaush and other fun things, but we are excited even to think about it. Our Dr also told us that she would consider Max to be officially “sitting up” because, while leaning forward over his legs, he can balance for brief periods of time before swaying to one side or the other.

Here’s Max not too long before the visit:

Max Pics 3.6.2011

At 4 months old, Max has rolled over on his own, laughed a hearty belly laugh, started wearing size 9 month clothes, and smiles so big that he gets a “chimple” (chin dimple). He grows and changes with each passing day. His personality is blossoming and his sense of humor is becoming more clear. These photographs even show that he carries the Hopkins “technology gene,” an insurmountable force defined by the bewitching effect of technology on the attention span of men in the family. Whenever a camera, iPhone, or other device is near, Max’s curiousity gets the better of him.

Our sweet, big little boy Max…..
