Max’s First Pee in the Potty 1.17.13

Is Getting Bigger!!
A few dribbles, but way to go buddy!
In the past few weeks, our family enjoyed many of the traditional elements of the holidays – lights, food, shopping, sledding, singing songs, and opening presents. In our house, where we celebrated Christmas morning for the first time in over a decade, we found ourselves celebrating other things…….like the fact that it took 3 hours to open presents because Max had to play with everything and the shocking number of new catch phrases he picked up.
So, here is the list of words and phrases that Max started saying during the holiday break. I know I haven’t captured all of them, but you get the idea.
My favorite exchange:
[Max:] Mama, I something something blah, blah, snack.
[Me:] You want a snack?
[Max:] OKAY!
Of the above, I can only take credit for “You OK, mama?” which followed a Pete Rose dive to rescue my son from ending a speedy sled-ride in the pond behind our house. Long story and I’m still hopeful my neighbors don’t have video of it.
I blame the rest of them on Max’s overwhelming new feeling of Christmas Spirit, his older cousins, friends with older kids, his grandparents (yes, YOU, grandpas and grandmas and peepaws and peepons), and last but not least, Daddy.
Thank you to all of you from the bottom of my heart. I haven’t stopped laughing. Seriously.

Max (and parents) had a pretty scary event last Sunday. After a nice birthday dinner at the Weber Grill at Circle Center in downtown Indianapolis, we went a-shopping in the Carson’s  department store. Long-story-short, we ended up flying out of the store to get Max to the Emergency Room with a pretty significant cut to his head. He’s feeling better now, but the 3 stitches he was given at Methodist Hospital took quite a toll from all of us. Here’s a few pics of the tough little guy, pre and post sutures:
We had a great Christmas season and Max traveled across the Midwest visiting family and having fun. Hope to have some pictures up soon, but here are some vids to catch everyone up on the Tater Bug.

To Whom It May Concern:
RE: Your amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium product
What are you going to do to improve this terrible product? My 1 year old son will eat and drink just about anything, but he cannot stomach this gut-wrenching excuse for a generic medicine. It tastes so utterly vile that he chokes and spits most of it out, making it impossible to give a correct dosage. The runny chalk-water consistency easily spills everywhere, staining clothes and furniture during the futile attempts to get a tiny human to consume this swill. Was taste even considered when you crafted this noxious posion? How do you expect parents to administer something so repulsive to a child? The worst effect of this garbage is that my son is now weary of taking ANY medicines. He has swallowed up all kinds of medicines in the past with no problem, but this sewage has made him clam up at the very sight of a dropper. I would too. Here’s my novel suggestion for your company: When making a medicine for kids, don’t make it taste like swamp gas.

So many grand things this last week! Most importantly, Max turned 1 year old! (technically 1.75 years here on earth with us) Mom and Dad are now happy that we can answer people’s “how old?” question with out getting a surprised look. He had several friends and family attend his party at the new house and eat tons of food from Black Diamond Barbecue and birthday cake from Costco.  For dinner, Max got to go out to a new Mexican restaurant and eat tons of avocado. Quite a day.
Max also had his 1 year doctor appointment this week, where he had 4 shots (ouch!) was 34″ tall and weighed in at slightly over 30 lbs. No more bottles or formula for the Max Man. It is all milk and sippy cups from here on out. He also was cleared to sit in his car seat facing forward (but this was primarily because he is way to big to sit in the rear facing position.) He had a lot of fun on his first ride and is looking forward to more.
Pics below and some video from this past month. More to follow soon. We are way too busy with this guy!

Max isn’t speaking many words yet, but he is very vocal. We have no idea what he is saying to or about this Cheerio, but he is certainly feels passionately about it.
